Starting week 2

Hello from hot and humid Papua New Guinea!

We are learning our way around the center, getting acquainted with a myriad of neighborhood birds, and slowly getting accustomed to the climate. The work is going reasonably – a bit slower than we had hoped, but it’s still likely that we’ll finish this week.

Praises:

  • We’ve had consistent electricity several days in a row now
  • The work is progresing
  • We had a really fun outing for our Sunday afternoon off of work
  • We’ve been enjoying lots of fellowship as a team over games after dark

Requests:

  • Our health still feels precarious, though we’ve been able to work
  • Good weather – it has rained every night and almost every daytime that we’ve been here. We’d love it to get a bit dryer, and maybe even have a gentle breeze to cool us off while we work
  • Finishing the work well
We went to a nearby beach and snorkeled around the coral reefs for our Sunday afternoon outing on Mother’s Day.  It was amazing!
Chester and I took a walk out to the little beach by the center for a mini-date.
Our teammate Skylar found a young coconut and opened it with a machete.  We drank the coconut water – yum!
Current work on the dorm: exterior siding and bathrooms!
