Hello Friends,
We want to invite you to join an upcoming work party at Glad Tidings Bible Camp on April 26th, 2025.
The Food
We are planning to smoke up some meats for Saturday but of course Chet and the camp cook Rebecca love to make sure that there are plenty of great snacks and food to go around.
The Fun
Some exciting things in the works but there might be a chance to do some shooting, there are a plethora of great games and if the weather holds a campfire is always a special treat.
The Project(s)
We have been helping Glad Tidings Bible Camp (GTBC) for a number of years because they care about God’s word and making disciples.
One exciting project at GTBC is the interconnect building between two cabins (Sycamore and Walnut). For many years these two cabins have served the camp but without restrooms. This means when a camper or staff needed to use the restroom or fill a water bottle one or more would need to leave the cabin to do so. You can imagine all the good times that are had by nefarious campers exploiting these loopholes and the endless trips to the restroom by the staff when you were trying to wind the kids down. This addition will add a single restroom, kitchenette and a washer and dryer in a location where it is very much needed. One exciting consequence is that the addition will create a couple of connected cabins that could be used as stand alone facilities for a family or youth retreat. We need to have this interconnect safe for campers before the season and it would be a huge blessing if it were able to be completed.
While the primary work will focus on the build out of this addition there are many other opportunities to make an impact. For example, there are minor repairs and painting in the bath house, along with a never ending supply of cleaning, landscaping and yardwork.
If you feel inexperienced, do not fear, Chet loves helping people find a great spot that uses the skills they already have and sufficient training to do a useful job safely. We will have tools and supplies onsite.
The When
Chet is likely to be onsite a couple days before to make sure that the projects are prepared and all the supplies are ready. Gil, the camp director, says You are welcome anytime in the last two weeks or April to come out and help, however, if you want join the real party come out Friday after work or early Saturday.
We do have people coming and going from the Omaha area and joining a carpool is awesome. If you are planning to drive and have extra seats or if you are looking to snag a ride please contact Chet.
Donations
Repairs, maintenance and upgrades take a big toll on finances. Donations toward these costs can be made to www.gladtidingsbiblecamp.org/
Food: we are looking to have a pretty good crowd onsite Fri evening and Sat for sure. Feeding these ravenous wolves takes mountains of food. If you have eggs, meat, produce or milk those can be donated as well. I would love to smoke a pig if you have one to donate let me know or if you have a few bucks to toss in the hat to help feed the crowd that would be appreciated as well.
