In 2012, a 97-year-old Holocaust survivor named Roman Blum died alone in New York, leaving behind a $40 million real estate fortune. He had no will and no known heirs. Investigators searched for years, but no one ever came forward to claim it. To this day, it remains the largest unclaimed inheritance in New York’s history—an entire fortune, sitting untouched, because no one realized it was theirs to claim.
We all know eternal life is a 100% free gift, completely paid for by Jesus. But most Christians live like spiritual paupers, because they don’t grasp the vast, unimaginable reserves of God’s gracious love available to them right now.
When that radical grace finally clicks, it changes everything. You don’t serve to earn something or gain God’s love—you serve because you’re already overflowing with it! Suddenly, packing up to serve kids at summer camp, or helping missionaries in the fall, isn’t a chore. It’s a privilege—an opportunity to live out of a heart bursting with thanksgiving.
“We love Him because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)
“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (1 John 4:11)
God’s love is simply too great a thing to be tucked away. It’s meant to be shared.
As a believer, don’t neglect the vast resources of a gracious God who calls you “My son,” “My daughter.” The application will look different for each of us—but we’d love to hear what you’re doing in response to God’s love. Share your stories with us; we’d love to celebrate what God is doing in your life.
