Pray for us in PNG

We head to Papua New Guinea in less than two weeks, yikes!  We’re deep into prep – making packing lists, trying to get the necessary vaccinations and medicines, and to get so many things done before leaving!  

We’ll be gone 21 days, so here’s 21 ways to pray for us while we’re gone:
(correction, we’ll be gone 23 days. But I didn’t add two more requests yet)

1. Pray for smooth travel.  We have four flights each way, customs, connections and lots of moving pieces that all have to work together.
2. Pray for our health.  Chester often has ear infections, which make flying particularly difficult.
3. Pray for favor in the airports.  
4. Pray that everyone’s luggage arrives intact.
5. Pray for us to recover quickly from jet lag and be able to get to work.
6. Pray for our kids while we’re gone. They’ll be home “alone” (with each other) for most of a month.  
7. Moriah will be coming home from college while we’re away.  Pray for the kids to adjust quickly and well to living together again.
8. Isaiah’s birthday is while we’re gone, and he’s taking a motorcycle training course.  Pray for his safety (and prudence) with this new transportation method.
9. Chester’s skin is prone to very painful heat rash.  Papua New Guinea is very hot and humid, and there’s no air conditioning.  Pray for his comfort.
10. Pray for our safety in the region.  PNG is not a safe place for women, and the wives will not be leaving the mission compound without our husbands, even to grocery shop.
11. Pray for the tools to function properly.  The crew certainly can pound every nail manually, but the work will go much faster with power tools.
12. Pray for our team to work well together.  There are three families involved, and none of us have ever worked together.
13. The three wives will be working together to cook for a crew of eight, and also train some of the local women on cooking for a group.  Pray for us to be an effective in the kitchen.
14. Pray for our whole team to build up and encourage each other through the trip.
15. Pray for our interactions with the other missionaries that live on the Ethnos 360 base, that we would be an encouragement to them too.
16. Pray for the local church in PNG, for them to love God and scripture, and for us to be an encouragement to them.
17. Pray for the weather to allow us to work uninhibited.
18. Pray for our stamina in the heat.
19. Pray for our project supplies to be ready for the work, and of good quality.
20. Pray for God to continue to provide for all the needs of this trip – especially those we didn’t think to budget for.
21. Pray for us to recover quickly when we return home, and be ready to serve and encourage people here.
